Nicole Kidman is one of my favorite actresses and I believe that she is one of the true stars of Hollywood. She is able to play any role, and is as ethereal as she is charming.
Nicole is currently in theaters all around the world with the movie “Secret in Their Eyes,” a suspense thriller, remake of the 2009 Argentine Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film.
I haven’t watched the movie yet, so in the meantime, I have found 5 “secrets” about her life and about her personality that will leave you surprised. Ready to discover them?
1. Who’s afraid of butterflies?
Nicole Kidman is terrified of butterflies, she can’t stand the continuous flapping of the wings, their ability to fly and to group together in swarms. Despite her phobia, Nicole Kidman has faced paper butterflies in commercial for Omega Butterfly, the watch collection which she was testimonial for.
2. Celebrities get made fun of, too.
She was persistently made fun of for being very tall in school. At thirteen years old, Nicole Kidman was already 5’9″ tall and had faced all of the terrible period of adolescence like the rest of us. While her height is considered to be elegant and graceful now, her high school nickname was “stalky”.
3. It takes two.
She is very good friends with Naomi Watts (whom I also love.) The two Australian actresses have known each other since they were little girls. Naomi Watts moved to Nicole’s house to be near her when she was going through the divorce with Tom Cruise . They also exchanged an iconic kiss on live TV at the Women In Film 2015 Crystal + Lucy Awards while wearing a shower cap.
4. Secret confession
Nicole Kidman confessed being extremely shy and in the past this caused her to stutter. Who would have ever thought that an introvert girl would have conquered the cinema world?
5. She has nose for Oscars
She is the first actress to win the Oscar for a role with a fake nose, which she wore in the interpretation of Virginia Wolfe in the movie “The Hours.” Those who have won before her include actors Jose Ferrer for Cyrano de Bergerac and Lee Marvin in Cat Ballou.
